📘 Modules 1–2: Introduction & Materials

These first modules set the stage for your creative journey into the art of paper quilling. You’ll be introduced to your instructor, gain insight into their approach, and build a mindset of curiosity, confidence, and joy. Then we’ll take a deep dive into materials. You’ll learn all about the best paper to choose for different purposes, quilling tools, glue, and more. You’ll also receive a supply guide with links to specific items so you don’t have to waste time searching for supplies.

 🧩 Modules 3–5: Basic Concepts & Shapes

In Module 3, you’ll learn a broad overview of paper quilling: a brief history on how it got started, different styles you may want to explore, and how the basic shapes act as building blocks for any project. Then you’ll apply them right away by learning each basic shape step by step as you create a flower composition. When you’re finished, you will have made almost all of the basic shapes and completed your first projects. Module 5 has more tips and practice for you, and these sections are packed with top tips that will help you avoid common mistakes and gain confidence with every coil. 

🧠 Modules 6-7: Transferring a Design & On-Edge Cactus

If you have a design that you want to translate to quilling, how do you do that? You’ll learn 3 possible methods to choose from and apply it right away to transfer a cactus design. Then you’ll learn on-edge quilling which is done with single lines of paper to make a modern, minimalist design. You may want to explore cutting your own paper strips for this project, so in this section you’ll also find a bonus guide on how to cut your own paper, including files that can be used on cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouette.

🏅 Module 8: Finishing, Framing, and Additional Tips

The final module brings everything together and helps you polish and present your work like a pro. You’ll learn how to finish your pieces cleanly, protect them, and explore framing and display options. We’ll also cover additional tips like supply storage and how to mail quilling artwork safely. You’ll also receive a certificate of completion and be invited to share your feedback. By the end, you’ll be fully equipped to keep quilling with confidence, and proudly share your work with the world.

These modules serve as the perfect starting point for your quilling journey, introducing you to the course structure for intermediate, and how to navigate the learning platform effectively. Once you’re familiar with the basics, you’ll begin refining your foundational skills through a detailed review of essential techniques, complete with practical tips for maintaining consistency and precision. You’ll also learn how to identify and fix common mistakes—such as challenges with coils or glue application—while discovering how paper width and weight can influence your designs. The modules conclude with guidance on critiquing your own work, helping you build confidence, sharpen your technique, and prepare for more advanced creative exploration ahead.

📒 Modules 11-12: Advanced Tools & Techniques

These modules take your quilling skills to a higher level by introducing a variety of specialized tools and advanced methods that allow for more intricate, precise, and creative results. You’ll explore how to use tools such as the curling coach, circle sizing board, quilling comb, husking board, border buddies, and dome molds to achieve different textures, shapes, and dimensions in your work. The lessons also cover techniques for creating 3D effects and complex designs using paper crimpers, fingers, and other accessories, all supported by a comprehensive Tools & Accessories PDF guide. Building on these new skills, you’ll then apply your knowledge to form advanced patterns such as Malaysian flowers, vortexes, eccentric coils, and multi-layer swirls. By the end of these modules, you’ll have mastered essential tools, developed precision and control, and gained the confidence to bring depth and sophistication to your quilling creations.

🌸 Modules 13-14: Exploring Materials & Creating Your Own Designs

These modules invite you to expand your creative boundaries and begin designing with intention, blending technical skill with artistic expression. In Module 13, you’ll experiment with various materials, learning how paper width, weight, and texture can dramatically transform your results. You’ll also explore creative approaches such as combining different backings, using colored backgrounds, and adding mat frames to elevate your finished pieces. The module concludes with a bonus section that encourages “out of the box” thinking through playful projects like ornaments, earrings, magnets, and mixed-media art. Moving into Module 14, you’ll learn how to transform inspiration into design by sketching ideas, developing concepts digitally in Canva or Procreate, and applying principles of color, balance, and composition. You’ll also gain insight into overcoming creative blocks and turning your digital or paper sketches into tangible quilled artworks. These modules focus on creating large-scale quilling designs and mastering the on-edge technique in detail. In Module 15, you’ll learn how to make bigger designs without fancy equipment, cut large sheets of mat board, explore different options for large backing, and frame oversized pieces for a professional finish. You’ll also discover how to choose wider paper for stronger results, plus enjoy a bonus lesson on cutting your own paper. Then, in Module 16, you’ll move on to creating a full large-scale project from start to finish—designing, printing, transferring your layout, and selecting the right materials for on-edge work. You’ll also master essential techniques such as working from the inside out, handling straight lines, corners, and curves, keeping your work clean from glue, and starting new strips seamlessly. By the end of these two modules, you’ll be equipped to design and complete large, polished quilling projects with confidence and precision.
